Council indicated unanimous support at its Dec. 16 meeting for a new pay scale developed by the Middle Georgia Regional Com- mission and city manager Janice Hall. Hall said the new pay scale will cost the city about $336,000, about $100,000 more than she had anticipated. But Hall said she’s using sales tax revenues to make some purchases rather than general fund money to help balance it out. City attorney Bobby Melton is checking to see whether the city must hold a public hearing before approving the pay scale, so council won’t be able to approve it until January. However Hall said she would make the pay increase retro-active to Ian. 1. Hall said all employees will get at least a 3 percent bump in pay. The pay scale puts all city employees on a grade and step system and when they move up, each grade comes with a 4 percent raise. Hall said having the pay scale will mean that annual evaluations given by super- visors to city employees will mean a lot more because they’ll have a chance to earn a raise. Until now, “annual evaluations have never meant anything,” said Hall. Pregnant? 1.0oki rig for answers or options?
