Region 2-AAAA), will next face defending

Academy 12-0 and 15-1, respectively, in a
first-round series sweep
MP took Game I over Cross Creek
behind an outstanding shutout pitching
performance from ace Mallory Turner.
Turner yielded just two hits over seven
innings while striking out six batters. Of-
fensively, MP was led by sisters Faith Ann
Rozier and Alissa Rozier, who had two hits
apiece, including a combined three doubles
and three RBIs.
In Game 2, it was Lauren DeFore who
recorded the win, giving up two hits in
four innings while striking out a pair of
batters. Aleah Hayman led MP with three
hits while Alissa Rozier, Faith Ann Rozier
and Karsin Bass had two hits each. Alissa
Rozier, who had a double and a triple, also
led the Lady Dogs with RBIs and three
runs scored.
Meanwhile, the Monroe County Middle
School softball team finished its regular
season with an 8-2 record after a 17-1 road
thumping of Lamar County Middle on
Tuesday, Oct. 9. The victory came one day
after the C-Team Lady Dogs annihilated
Byron Middle 24-0 on the road on Oct. 8.
The C-Team Lady Dogs placed second in
the Central Georgia Middle School Athletic
League's (CGMSAL) East division behind
only 10-0 Gray Station.
The C-Team Lady Dogs were next sched-
uled to host Rehobath Road at 5 p.m. on
Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the first round of the
area playoffs. If Monroe County wins, it
would next play at 5 p.m. on Thursday in
the second round, likely on the road. :
