The Blue Cottage beside in the 1930's, and it is believed the

Bolingbroke Community Not long ago, a storm came
Club (a non-profit organization)
for as long as I can remember -
well over 20 years. For those of you
not familiar, we held our meetings
there for many
years but eventu-
ally outgrew the
space and had to
move the meetings
to Mr. Zion Baptist
Church fellowship
hall.
We use the
building during
the Christmas
Parade each year, VICKI SMITH
transforming it into
"Santa's Workshop" Xhe children
line up with with great anticipation
and excitement to go inside and
visit with Santa.
The building has so much history
and is one of the few remaining
historical buildings here in Boring-
broke. Our little town would not be
the same without it. Judy Kornegay
told me that when they moved to
Bolingbroke in 1973, she and her
husband, Garry, went to this build-
ing to vote - it was this area's voting
precinct.
I am also told that this building
used to be the city hall/courthouse
through and knocked the power
box offthe back of the building. It
was then discovered that the sup-
port beams on two sides are rotten.
The county owns the building
while the Bolingbroke Com-
munity Club leases it.
The county maintenance
crew wanted to have it torn
down. After conversing with
our District 3 county com-
missioner, John Ambrose,
and a few of the Community
Club members, including
Garry Komegay, who is an
engineer, it was determined
that the building could be
saved.
Club member Jimmy Mickle has
been rebuilding the seal plates/
beams. And in the meantime, John
Ambrose agreed to go before the
other commissioners and renew
our lease. He agreed to give the
Club money from his discretionary
fund so that the Bolingbroke Com-
munity Club can begin making
other necessary repairs to the aging
building.
In addition to the money Mr.
Ambrose will donate, we will need
more to complete the on-going
project. If you can make a dona-

finances permit, we will redo the
siding, windows and door and
repaint the exterior. A new deck/
porch is also needed.

helping with this project, please

that are skilled carpenters, painters,
etc. Together we can work to make
