Monroe County Board of Education held
its September meeting at CuUoden City
Hall with the intent of making its meet-
ings more accessible to Monroe County
citizens who don't live close to Forsyth.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Hickman said
the board plans to hold meetings at other
locations when no special recognitions are
on the agenda, but no specific sites have
been named.
During the board's 45 minute closed
door session for personnel and litiga-
tion, CuUoden city council member Dr.
Margie Bryant escorted guests attending
the public meeting to CuUoden's newly
renovated community center, a block away
from city hall. She showed the facility,
which includes two computer stations with
internet access and a full kitchen as well as
a meeting room, and said that the building
is available to rent for events and will host
educational and social activities for the
community.
Bryant asked Blair Hickman to talk abou[
dental hygiene and ason Hickman to talk i
about his experiences as an entrepreneur
and programs in which he is involved at
Mercer University. Both speakers respond- i
ed graciously to the impromptu request
and answered a variety of questions. Bry-
ant explained that these are the types of
informational programs CuUoden plans to
bring to the community now that it has a
space to do so.
Culloden council members Miranda
Hall, Tellas Daniels, ]ackie Boling and
Bryant attended the Board of Education
meeting. Shane Hall, Miranda Hall's son,
helped show the new community center to
guests and answered questions. He is in the
fourth grade at Hubbard Elementary. The
city of Culloden provided dinner for the
board members.
