The Mary Persons volleyball squad dropped to
2-7 with four straight road losses last week.
MP lost in straight sets to Area 2-AAAA rival
Upson-Lee in a three-team match at FPD on
Thursday. Earlier that night, the Volley Dogs fell
in straight sets, 14-25, 13-25, to the home Lady
Vikings.
Two nights earlier, on Tuesday, Aug. 27, the
Volley Dogs lost in straight sets to Warner Rob-
ins, 12-25, 12-25 at Stratford Academy. Earlier
that night, the Volley Dogs lost a hard-fought
three-setter to the home Lady Eagles. MP won the
first set 25-21 before losing the second set 21-25.
In an abbreviated third and deciding set, the Dogs
fell short 12-15 to give Stratford a two sets to one
win.
On Aug. 22, MP recorded its second victory of
the young season with a three-set, neutral-site
win over Griffin.
Playing in Jackson, the Volley Dogs dropped
the first set 20-25 to the Lady Bears before sneak-
ing out the second set 25-23 to force a decisive
third set. MP then edged Griffin 15-12 in an
abbreviated third set for the victory.
Things didn't got nearly as well for the Volley
Dogs in their matchup with the home Lady Red
Devils on Aug. 22. MP was spiked 5-25 in the
opening set before falling 13-25 in the second set
for straight sets defeat.
Two days earlier, on Aug. 20, MP dropped all
three sets in a best-of-five home match against
Northside (Warner Robins). MP lost the opening
set 18-25 before narrowly falling in the second set
25-27. The Volley Dogs then dropped the third
set 16-25 to record their second loss of the season.
MP's first loss came on Aug. 15 when the Volley
Dogs were defeated in straight sets in a best-of-5
match against Stratford Academy in MP's home
opener. The Volley Dogs lost 20-25, 9-25 and 19-
25, respectively, in three sets.
MP will next face Gatewood at 6 p.m. on
Wednesday in a match to be contested at West
Laurens.
Also, the MP pc" Volley Dogs wilt next travel to
West Laurens to face the home Raiders at 5 p.m.
on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the MP 9th Grade volleyball team
will next face West Laurens on the road at 6 p.m.
on Wednesday.
