I have a question. Was it indeed a machine gun used in the shootout or was it a semi- automatic weapon? The reason I ask is that most people don't know the difference between a machine gun and a semi- automatic firearm. The news media and anti-gun politicians like to instill fear into the populace by referring to semi-automatic firearms as machine guns. They lead people to think dlat mlybody cml walk Into a gun shop and buy a ma- chine gun, a fully automatic weapon. A machine gun is legal to own but it must be regis- tered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Fire- arms under the Firearms Act of 1934. If as reported this was a stolen "machine gun" then the ATF would be involved in this case. So, my question again is, was the weapon used indeed a "machine gun" or was it a semi-automatic firearm? Steve Bentley Juliette Editor's note: Forsyth Po- lice Inv. Alexander Daniels told the Reporter that he believes it was a machine gun but it has been sent to the GBI lab for analysis. UNFAIR AND UNBALANCED by Marilyn Langford To the Editor: Ab s a black man ,living in the South, I m concerned about lack registered voters in Monroe County. A black person doesn't even have a chance of winning any kind of county-wide election, whether the sheriff, county commission chairman, or magistrate judge, etc. Black voters make up 21 percent of the county, while white voters make up 71 per- cent, with 8 percent unknown. Every black church needs to open its doors in Monroe County to make sure all of their Olin members are registered voters. Also, as a black commu- nity we need to get out in these streets and work together like Wrights Grove Baptist Church by getting people to become registered voters to get the black percentage up. Being a black person running for office, he or she has zero chance of winning any election. As a black community, we need to come together because in the next 10-15 years, black votes won't even matter in Monroe Count. Jimmy Owens Forsyth TgbwoeeS is the week you've all en waiting for--the ek I write something od about Trump. Ready? Trump will look dashing in an or jumpsuit that matches his hair. I:sPENT i2 years of my life working in the intelligence com- munity, specifically the National Security Agency. Last week as I wat ed Trump in Helsinki tanding with our elections by stating that "I see no reason why it would be Russia" Two days later, he stated he mis-spoke and meant, "I see no reason why it wouldn't be Russia" On that I call BS! Lo and behold, Repub- lican leaders were all understanding and forgiving. I call BS on that, too. If Obama had said those exact words, he would be hanging from a tree in the Rose Garden. You ow'ifs true! interest of our country. If only MueUer had indicted Putin when he indicted his 12 intelligence officers for election interference, we would not be concerned with Putin ever setting foot on our soft again. When Mueller's investiga- tion is over and done, the one thing I want to know is why Putin was not indicted. I HAVE never been a conspiracy theorist. I have been trained to only be swayed by facts. The facts are pointing more and more to a conspiracy between Trump and Putin to change the world order. beside Putin, the real Actually, that's Putin's desire and :i: enemy of the world, THE WORST is yetTrump is being duped to enable him. Fact. Trump is working to come. Trump spent and endorse Putins ii idea ofturning over two hours alone with hard to alienate all of our allies cert gover ent Putin, and Trump while endearing himself to all the employees for interrogation by his GRU (Russian Intelligence), I fou*gh't back. the tears. First, tears of sadness and then tears of anger. Trump denied the reporting by all our intelligence agencies in our country that Russia interfered said, "we discussed many things" That's all we know. Trump has an- nounced that he has invited Putin to the White House to discuss implementing the things they discussed. Whatever it is, I guaran- damn-tee you it's not in the best autocrats of the world. Fact. If Trump alienates all the countries of NATO, who will protect us from Russia's nuclear arsenal when Putin decides he no longer needs Trump? Nobody. Fact. Our Con- stitution was carefully crafted to prevent an autocrat such as Trump from serving as President. Fact. The governing bodies tasked with complying with our Constitution have abdicated their responsibil- ity in favor of their own political position. TRUMP HUGS the flag to be cute. Fact. Trump disparages black NFL players who take a" knee to protest injustice to their race and calls them unpatriotic. Fact. Trump hates the free press and calls them fake news. Fact. Trump pals around with a dictator that kills journalists. Fact. Trump is disrespectful to women. Fact. Trump has committed adultery and paid the women offto keep them quiet. Fact. BUT, YOU say, "I support him because the economy is doing so great" This attitude is short- sighted. Historically, after a boom there is a bust. Trump has already started criticizing the Federal Reserve. He is well on his way to having complete control over the Federal Reserve when his nomi- nees for Govemors of the Fed are confirmed by the Senate. Trump bankrupted a casino! Do you trust him with control of all the money in our country? THE DEFINITION of Fascism: A political system based on a very powerful leader, state control of social and economic life, and extreme pride in country and race, with no expression of political dis- agreement allowed. I'm pretty sure that during those two hours alone with Putin, Trump was undergo- ing fascism training. YOU HAVE two choices now to save our country. In November, either vote out all those com- plicit with Trump or invest in the Rosetta Stone software to learn Russian. Fact.
