Hughes Taylor may not be a very big
name, but as far as local artists go, he is one
of the best. Originally from Macon, Hughes
is a singer, songwriter, and musician. He
lives in Dahlonega and has been perform-
ing around Georgia since he was 12. He has
been playing music for over a decade.
Hughes is a blues-rock artist. Some of his
inspirations are B. Keith Williams, a local
artist who taught him guitar by drawing
chords on a cocktail napkin at his shows,
and Stevie Ray Vaughan, who Hughes
believes inspires him through both char-
acter and musical ability. He says Vaughan
had the most influence on his music styles.
But most of all, his biggest inspiration is
his wife, Evie. Hughes says Evie motivates
him every and she is the inspiration
behind most of his songs. "She is my biggest
supporter. I thank God for her every da) '
Hughes said of his wife.

written for people. Hughes said in an email
to me, "If, with my own music, I can make
anyone feel the way I feel when I hear the
music I love, then I know I am doing what I
am meant to do. I also hope to inspire other
young artists to create music and pursue
their dreams."
Hughes plays both solo and with a band
that is named after him. He found out
through a friend that there was an opening
to play at The Pickled Okra in Forsyth on
Friday, June 21. Because he and his band
have been looking for new areas to play
in, they believed the opportunity fell into
their laps. Even though this is the first time
they had played here, Hughes has been to
Monroe County before since he grew up
just a few minutes away
While he has no more scheduled perfor-
mances here during his tour, his next shows
near us were in Downtown Macon at the
grand opening of a new bar called JBA
on July 6, and then at Creek Stage, where
he will be playing with the Highway 41
band on ]uly 18. For any inquiries. Hughes
can be reached through his website www.
hughestaylormusic.com, or through his
Facebook page.
