Indian Falls Drive resident
told Dep. Cody Maples that
his male neighbor partially
blocked his driveway with a
homemade wooden trailer.
While Maples was meet-
ing with the resident, the
male neighbor and his wife
began recording the con-
versation on a cell phone.
The neighbor was carrying
a large walking stick, about
five feet long and three
inches in diameter. The
residents son then asked
Maples if he and his father
could move the trailer back
to the neighbor's property
to clear their driveway.
When Maples said they
could, the neighbor and his
son rolled the trailer onto
the neighbor's driveway.
The neighbor and his wife
then yelled and screamed
about not allowing the resi-
dent or his son onto their
property. When the resi-
dent and his son advanced
then dropped the trailer
and ran toward the neigh-
bor, hitting him once in the
face with a closed fist. The
neighbor then dropped the
stick and put both hands
around the resident's softs
throat and began to choke
him. Maples then tackled
the neighbor, hitting him
twice atop his head in an
attempt to handcuffhim.
Dep. Nicholas Ortiz then
arrived and helped get
the neighbor into Maples'
patrol car. Monroe County
EMTs then took the resi-
dent to the hospital while
the neighbor was taken to
the Monroe County Jail.
