Catie, the miracle daughter of Gregg and Michelle Phillips, turns 4 this week. She suffers from Congenital Sideroblas- tic Anemia, a rare form of anemia that requires regular blood transfusions. She almost didn't make it when she was born. Catie has already had 92 blood transfusions in her short life, but she soldiers on and is a pre-K student at Hub- bard Elementary School. Based in Macon, Rooms from the Heart has for more than 20 years been converting the bedrooms of chronically ill Children into havens tailored to each child's wishes. Catie loves Minnie Mouse so volunteers spent Saturday turning her bedroom in south Monroe County into a pink palace worthy of Minnie herself. Volunteers not only painted the walls bright pink but installed new shelving and a giant Minnie Mouse mural in her closet. They also installed a new ceiling fan and See ROOM Page 6A Catie Phil- lips was stunned when she saw what Rooms from the'Heart volunteers had done to her room on Saturday.
