Deputy chases
Honda Prelude
through north
Monroe County
A 29-year-old white
Forsyth man faces mul-
tiple charges, including
fleeing or attempting to
elude after a high-speed
chase in North Monroe
County on Jan. 24. At
about 3:50 a.m Cpl.
Jake Justice saw a silver
2001 Honda Prelude that
failed to dim its head-
lights on Johnstonville
Road. Justice tried to
stop the car but it sped
up and ran a stop sign
before turning onto Rocky
Creek Road. The car con-
tinued traveling onto the
dirt portion of Unionville
Road when it finally
stopped. The female pas-
senger then opened the
passenger side door and
got out while the male
driver drove off again.
Justice followed the
car to the intersection
of Unionville and High
Falls roads where the
car took off westbound
before turning around
later and heading east-
bound. During the chase,
in which speeds exceeded
100 mph, the car drove
across a ditch into a front
yard before turning onto
Parker Branch Road
at which point Justice
lost sight of the car.
Justice then returned to
Unionville Road where he
met with the passenger
who confirmed the driv-
er's identity. Dispatchers
later notified Justice
that the car was found
wrecked and abandoned
on Possum Trot Run in
Lamar County. However,
Lamar County deputies
were not able to locate
the driver. The driver
will also be charged with
failure to dim headlights,
speeding, failure to main-
tain lane, reckless driving
and failure to yield to
blue lights.

A 29-year-old white
Forsyth man was arrest-
ed and charged with
aggravated assault after
he allegedly' shot his gun
at his father during a
fight at a Collins Ridge
Drive home on Jan. 24.
At about 3 p.m. on Jan.
24, Sgti Michael Hull
arrived at the home and
saw a white Ford F-150
with a cracked wind-
shield and damaged rear
tires pulling out of the
driveway. Hull stopped
the truck and ordered the
male driver to get out.
Hull saw a revolver on
the front seat as well as
a bag of syringes. Despite
cold temperatures, the
driver was sweating and
was only wearing jeans
and cowboy boots. The
driver told Hull he and
his father had been argu-
ing. Hull then searched
the truck and found a
Colt 38-caliber revolver
with six spent shell cas-
ings. Next to the revolver
was a brown purse with
three syringes on top
of it and a clear bag of
suspected methamphet-
amine inside of it. The
driver then told Hull the
drugs belonged to his
girfriend, but Hull hand-
cuffed him anyway. The
driver's father then told
Hull he was working on
his truck when he saw
someone had engraved
his flame into his fuel
tank. The driver's father
said he suspected his son
had done it, and his son
became agitated. The
father said he then saw
his son walking toward
him with something in
his hand. He said he then
heard several shots fired
and realized his son was
holding a handgun and
