Monroe County's snow day on Wednes-
day. Monroe County schools closed on
Wednesday and Thursday from the snow,
which totalled between 1-2 inches and
was followed by very cold temperatures.
Monroe County EMS chief Matt Perry
posted on the department Facebook page
on Wednesday night that the follow-
ing was reported in the hours after the
snow fell: "Over 50 traffic accidents, over
100 calls for ice on the roads (that were
treated), over a dozen assisted motor-
ists [that number was really 10x that), 16
domestic events, 37 patients were seen
in the Monroe County Hospital in just the
day shift and nearly 40 EMS calls since
midnight last night:' The snow appears to
be gone for a while as this week's forecast
calls for high temperatures in the 60s all
week. See more snow photos on page 1C.
