' she had a flat passenger side tire.
However, Sawley saw damage
to the car’s front right headlight,
fender, bumper, tire and wheel
as if it had been in an accident.
The driver then told Sawley she
had hit a curb before changing
her story and saying she ran
into a ditch. Sawley saw fresh
scratches to the car and pieces of
paint were missing from the left
fender and bumper. The driver,
who smelled of alcohol, told
Sawley she had taken about six
prescription medications about
four hours earlier and admitted
to drinking an Ice House beer at
a friend’s home in Macon. The
driver said she was trying to get
to Peake Road and Log Cabin
Drive in Macon and had got-
ten lost. The driver then failed
several field sobriety tests and
tested a high positive for alcohol
on a field breath test. However,
Sawley found nothing illegal
inside the car. Sawley then took
the driver to the Monroe County
Jail, where she submitted a urine
sample. The driver was also
charged with improper stopping
in roadway.
